Product philosophy

SGN is a Norwegian ski brand that designs playful and touring-friendly freeride skis for skiers who value reliable and functional tools for the entire mountain.

Identity

SGN is a ski brand born between the fjords and mountains of beautiful Sogn on Norway’s west coast. Here, we don’t have heliskiing, catskiing, or ski lifts taking us to the highest and steepest peaks. Much of our skiing is therefore touring-based.

The snow lasts throughout the season, offering great days in the mountains from November to June. The season begins with heavy snowfall and deep days in the forest, before transitioning above the treeline as the days grow longer. In spring, we venture higher into the mountains, enjoying excellent snow and stunning light conditions late into the evening.

Feel

We’ve always sought out playful skiing, which is why enjoyment and playfulness have always been the top priority in our ski models. Ending a run with a great feeling is, in our view, the most important part of a ski tour. That’s why ride quality and playfulness are the first considerations we work with when designing new ski models.

Touring focus

While ride enjoyment comes first, we’ve always valued excellent touring performance in our skis. All our models, including our all-mountain skis, are built with touring in mind. Whether you’re breaking trail through a meter of fresh powder or climbing spring slush in the high mountains, we design lightweight, balanced skis that provide long range, conserve energy, and enhance safety margins in the mountains. Our goal is to deliver a great uphill experience on your way to memorable descents – the essence of ski memories that stay with you long after the season ends.

Tool

Reliable and durable tools of high quality ensure you can depend on our skis, no matter the conditions or adventures you take them on. Many of the country’s most experienced mountain guides and instructors trust our skis to perform their work effectively in the mountains. Predictability and durability in material selection, construction, and functionality are cornerstones of our ski production.

Technology

To meet our standards for ride enjoyment, playfulness, functionality, weight, and reliability, our skis are built using state-of-the-art production methods and materials. All models feature a full wood core, preserving ride quality even in our lightest touring skis. With a forward-thinking design, our skis are built to provide excellent skiing experiences for years to come.

Concept and graphics

Although all our skis are designed to be mounted with touring bindings and function as touring skis, we’ve categorized them into two groups: Touring and Freeride.

Our touring skis are all named after mountains and mountain areas we hold dear, reflecting the type of skiing each ski is best suited for. The graphics are often inspired by the specific area, tying the design to its namesake.

Our freeride skis take their names from the myths and legends of Sogn. The graphics are also drawn from the spectacular mountains in the region, combined with figures and features associated with the product names.

We stay true to our distinct concepts from year to year. While we might make updates to the design and construction of a ski, you can rest assured that if you purchase a Hurrungane ski, it will remain perfectly suited for the type of skiing found in the Hurrungane range.

The artwork on our skis is designed to set the mood, evoking the feeling of a magical day in the mountains, with the joy of skiing at the heart of the experience!
