Binding Alignment > How to use and adjust the Marker Kingpin

This guide takes you through how to adjust the Marker Kingpin binding to your boots, how to set the DIN release value, and most importantly, how to use the binding while you're on your tour! This guide applies to all versions of the Kingpin, whether you have the M-Werks version or any of the other editions.

Length Adjustment

The binding is adjusted forward and backward using a star screwdriver (PH2). It should be placed so that the adjustment screw is flush with the plate when the boot is stepped down. Place the rear part of the boot over the rear housing of the binding, roughly adjust the rear housing so that the boot can be stepped down, and fine-tune it so that the binding is flush with the plastic around the screw. Make sure there is no weight on the boot when making this adjustment.

Release Value Adjustment

The release value is adjusted by turning the adjustment screw on the rear housing (PH2). Both at the end of the binding and at the top of the rear housing.

Walk Mode

Flip the lever under the ski backward to move the rear housing into walk mode. Step into the front housing with the boot. Pull up the lever on the front housing so that it is in walk mode. Step down on the ski stoppers, and they will lock into walk mode. There are two heel lifters that can be flipped forward to use them.

Ski Mode

Flip the lever under the ski back so that it points forward. The ski stoppers will then drop down into the ground. Press the rear housing down so that it lies flat against the ski. Step into the front housing with the boot. The lever should be in walk mode. Step hard into the rear housing so that the boot is locked in place.

How to Attach Ski Crampons

To attach the ski crampon, hold it vertically either on the right or left side of the binding. Then slide the crampon in until it is centered on the ski. You can then lower the crampon flat onto the ski. To remove it, do the same motion in the opposite direction.

The easiest way to attach the ski crampon is to do so after you have taken the skis off your feet, but with some practice, you can save both time and energy by putting the crampon on and off while still wearing the skis.
