How to use and adjust Fritschi randonee bindings
This guide takes you through how to adjust Fritschi randonee bindings to your boots, how to set the DIN release value, and most importantly, how to use the binding while you're on your tour! This guide applies to both Tecton and Xenic bindings.
Tecton
Length Adjustment
The binding is adjusted forward and backward using a star screwdriver (PZ3). When the binding is correctly adjusted, there should be a small "arrow" on the adjustment screw that lines up flush with two raised "pins" in the plastic of the rear housing. Make sure there is no weight on the boot when making this adjustment.
Release Value Adjustment
The release value is adjusted on both the front and rear housings. On the front housing, there is a star screw (PZ3) at the very back, as well as a scale. On the rear housing, there is a star screw (PZ3) at the very back, along with a scale.
Walk Mode
Pull the lever on the rear housing forward so that it is in a horizontal position. Step into the front housing with your boot. Pull up the lever on the front housing so that it is in walk mode. Step down on the ski stoppers. They will then lock into place. There are two heel lifters that can be flipped for different levels.
Ski Mode
Push the lever on the rear housing all the way down. The brake will then make contact with the ground. Step into the front housing with your boot. The lever on the front housing should be in walk mode. Step hard on the rear housing so that the boot is securely locked into place.
Xenic
Length Adjustment
The binding is adjusted forward and backward using a star screwdriver (PZ3). The rear housing should be adjusted so that it just touches the back part of the boot and the pins are properly engaged with the boot. Make sure there is no weight on the boot when making this adjustment.
Release Value Adjustment
The release value is adjusted by turning the two small screws on the rear housing (PZ2). The bottom screw adjusts lateral release, while the top screw adjusts vertical release. The release scale is shown at the top of the binding.
Walk Mode
Rotate the rear housing 180 degrees. This binding can be rotated to the right or left. Step into the front housing with your boot. Pull up the lever on the front housing so that it is in walk mode. Step down on the ski stoppers (if installed). They will lock into walk mode. There are two heel lifters that can be flipped for different levels.
Ski Mode
Rotate the rear housing so that the pins are pointing forward. The brake will then make contact with the ground. Step into the front housing with your boot. The lever on the front housing should be in walk mode. Step hard on the rear housing so that the boot is securely locked into place.
