November and pre-season is no stop for Asbjørn! He has been high up in the mountains to air his big mountain skis several times already. Here comes a report from some lovely November days in the north-west.
The mountains up from Jordalsgrenda are in many ways synonymous with the "start of the season" for us up here in the Northwest. With a good weather forecast, "Black Friday" was by no means an exception for getting to the mountains. For us, this was a good start to season number two - after a short stay with mild weather. A good weather forecast and good snow conditions are a good recipe.
Ståle Aklestad and Robert Aaring are rarely hard to ask when nice things are on the agenda, so they were excited to join this trip at short notice - no one wants to miss the few sunny days so early in the season as now!
Most of the terrain in this area faces east, so you need the hours before lunch to harvest the goodies in good light. The terrain here is also at its best early in the season before everything snows again, and the formations disappear among the snow masses. It is not unusual for the season to start early, and with a car road of up to 500 metres, you are quickly up to the snow.
Here are some pictures and a film from Black Friday, which turned out to be a fantastic white and nice Friday!
