This year's Mountain Sports Festival is fast approaching, and it's time to be happy! Whether you are new to the festival or have attended before, there are many things happening these days in Sogndal! We have compiled a list of 7 things we think you must bring with you to the Mountain Sports Festival 2023!

1. Rakkar Open and Rabbagast Open

This is without a doubt our highlight during the Festival, and we hope this year's Rakkar Open and Rabbagast Open will be just as spectacular this year too! Rakkar Open is a competition for those of you who like wild tricks and airy gliding on skis! Historically, there has been a sky-high level at the Rakkar Open, so there will be plenty of opportunities to see top-class skiing! The final venue has not been decided, but it will be in the Rindabotn area! Final information will come just before the event! Check out the film below from last year's event!

Place: Rindabotn
Time: Saturday. Rabbagast Open at 1100 and Rakkar Open at 1300

2. After skiing

The perfect place to brag about how deep snow you've driven or how big cliffs you've jumped is of course après-ski in the company of good friends with a cold lager in hand. After-skiing in Dalalåven is about to become one of the festival's highlights! We are looking forward to it!

Place: Dalalåven
Time: Friday and Saturday - 1630-1830

3. Ski demo with SGN

At a ski demo with SGN, you get the opportunity to try all our models, whether you want to test top touring skis or freeride skis. If you are looking for new skis (or just want to try), a ski demo is a valuable experience, as you get the opportunity to test which model is right for you and which length suits you. Maybe you will find a new favorite ? We are on hand throughout the festival, and have all skis in all lengths available!

Place: Rindabotn
Time: Thursday, Friday and Saturday - 1000-1600

4. Lecture - Light Lines

Lectures have always been an important part of the Mountain Sports Festival, and this year there are more exciting speakers. We choose to highlight Vegard Aasen and Callum Macintyre's lecture "Light Lines" "Light Lines" is an art project where the aim is to take unique pictures of skiing in the dark on iconic Norwegian mountains, and to put the loss of nature higher on the political agenda .

Vegard and Calum take the audience "behind the scenes" in the process of capturing these technically difficult and risky images. Unpublished material from the trips will be shown. Calum will also shed light on some aspects of the nature crisis, and what we as skiers can contribute to putting this problem higher on the political agenda in Norway.

Place: Quality
Time: Wednesday 17:00

5. Mountain sports quiz

Mountain sports quiz is one of the festival's most popular activities. Here you and your team get the chance to show off your knowledge and compete for great prizes! The quiz is open to everyone and it is of course not necessary to be an expert to participate. So come and test yourself, and have fun with other mountain sports participants!

Location: SoHo
Time: Friday - 2130-2330

6. Youth Saturday with SGN - on a Thursday!

Are you between 10 and 16 years old, keen on skiing, and want to join the best on the slopes? Together with our skilled team riders, we organize throughout the season something we call "Youth Saturday with SGN", an event where you can take your skiing to the next level! It is a social and inclusive event with a focus on skiing, play and fun! During the Mountain Sports Festival, we organize it on Thursday, so this will be the first ever Youth Thursday with SGN!

Winter 2023 will be the sixth season we at SGN organize youth Saturdays, and it is set to be the very best season yet!
The event is of course free (not incl. lift ticket), and there is a limited number of places at each event. Read more about the event, the dates and the instructors here!

Location: The SGN stand in Rindabotn
Time: Attendance 1045. Finished around 1400

7. Party with DJ Synne

A true skier is not only a legend on the slopes, but on the dance floor as well. The mountain sports festival ends with a bang at SoHo together with DJ Synne! She delivers the most delicious and funky grooves you can imagine, and is a guaranteed hit for excited festival attendees. With après-ski experience from the Alps and sold-out evenings in Bergen's club life, Synne guides you safely from après-ski to the end of the evening. Bring your dancing feet - there will be sing-alongs, it will be funky and it will be housy!

Location: SoHo
Time: 2300 - 🌙
